🗼 A store purchased a telephone for ₹680 and marked it up 175%. During a sale, the store marked it down 70%.

First, find the original price. Write 175% as the decimal 1.75 before using it in the equation.

price = cost + mark-up
 = 680 + 1.75 × 680
 = 680 + 1,190
 = 1,870

The original price was ₹1,870.

Now find the discount price. Write 70% as the decimal 0.70 before using it in the equation.

discount price = original price − discount
 = 1,870 − 0.70 × 1,870
 = 1,870 − 1,309
 = 561

The discount price was ₹561.

🗼 Roxanne works at a store where she earns a base salary of ₹6,388 per week plus a commission of 13% of sales. If Roxanne sold ₹8,000 worth of merchandise last week,

First, find the commission. Write 13% as the decimal 0.13 before using it in the equation.

commission = commission percentage × sales
 = 0.13 × 8,000
 = 1,040

The commission was ₹1,040.

Now find the total pay.

total pay = base salary + commission
 = 6,388 + 1,040
 = 7,428

The total pay was ₹7,428.

🗼 A store purchased a canoe for ₹9,600 and marked it up 100%. Angie makes a 12% commission on all of her sales.

= 19,200

The price was ₹19,200.
